FACET for assistants

Connect your own AI assistant, such as Claude, to the canon your team keeps in FACET. It signs in as you, reads only what you can read, and can't change anything.

Connector URL:

Claude (desktop or web). Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector. Name it FACET, paste the URL, choose Connect, and sign in with your Imaginal Worlds account.

Claude Code. In a terminal:

claude mcp add --transport http --scope user facet https://mcp.facet.imaginalworlds.com/mcp

Then run claude, type /mcp, choose facet and sign in.

You also need access. It's two settings your administrator makes at the Imaginal Worlds hub: assistant access for you, and each storyverse switched on for assistants. FACET's Workspace → Settings → External assistants shows what you can reach.

Start here

Once connected, your assistant's prompt menu has four ready-made starting points:

Prompt	What it does
What can FACET do for me?	Lists your storyverses, what each allows, and questions to try.
Brief me on a character	The character's canon, each fact with its paragraph numbers and the audit's verdict, and what canon leaves blank.
Check a passage against canon	Paste a draft scene or pitch. Each concrete claim is checked, and you get a table of verdicts.
Where in the book does it say…	Finds the passages of the source work that answer your question, quoted with paragraph numbers.

Or just ask in your own words. For example:

"Is it canon that Wilbur Whateley grew up in Arkham?"
"Where in the book is the Necronomicon first mentioned?"
"Which of this character's facts have weak evidence?"

What it reads

list_storyverses	The storyverses you can use here, and whether each allows source passages.
search_canon	Finds characters, places, events and the rest by name.
read_entity	One entity's canon, as your team keeps it in FACET.
field_citations	The evidence for each fact: paragraph numbers, the reasoning, and the citation audit's verdict.
check_claim	TypeSafe's verdict on whether a statement agrees with canon.
consult_source	The passages of the book that answer a question. It looks in the paragraphs canon cites first, then searches, then reads the whole work.
list_arcs	Every character arc, with its turning points, and what doesn't hold or is left open.
list_relationships	Who knows whom, what caused what: canon's typed relationships, for one entity or the whole storyverse.
opportunity_heat	Where the opportunities are: what's developed in canon but little used in the story.
story_in_time	The story's events in canon's own time order, and which ones canon doesn't place.

Canon and source

Canon is what your team built in FACET, for your organisation's own storyverse. Source is the manuscript itself. Each storyverse switches them on separately:

Canon only: your assistant reads canon and evidence verdicts, but not the book's words.
Canon and source: it can also quote the passages that answer a question. Only the paragraphs that answer are sent, never the whole book.

What it won't do

It can't edit canon, or anything else in FACET. To change canon, work in FACET.
It can't reach a storyverse you can't read in FACET, or one that isn't switched on.
It won't improve on canon. When canon is silent, it should say so rather than fill the gap.

What happens to what you ask

Every request is recorded in FACET with who made it, from which assistant, and what was sent back, including the paragraph numbers of any source passages. What was sent goes to your assistant's provider (for Claude, Anthropic) under your own account's terms.

If something says…

Message	Meaning
not found	You don't have assistant access to that storyverse, or can't read it in FACET. Ask your administrator.
not switched on	The storyverse doesn't allow assistants, or doesn't allow source passages. Canon may still be available.
sign-in has expired	Reconnect FACET in your assistant's connector settings.
too many assistant calls	There's a limit per person per hour. It says when to try again.
